CNET — one of the world’s most recognized and trusted technology media outlets — has reviewed Surfshark and awarded us the Editors’ Choice badge. Surfshark’s total score was 8.6 out of 10.
That’s not a number CNET hands out lightly. Their reviewers ran Surfshark through more than 200 individual speed tests, DNS leak tests, streaming evaluations, and conducted a thorough review of our privacy practices and corporate structure. The verdict? Surfshark is an excellent VPN that consistently delivers innovative features.

What CNET highlighted
CNET praised Surfshark across all five categories scored — giving us a 9/10 for Usability, Value, and Features, and an 8/10 for both Speed and Privacy.
A few things they highlighted specifically: our consistently fast connection speeds, our slick and intuitive app interface, our RAM-only server infrastructure, and our growing list of unique features.
CNET editors were also encouraged by our increasing commitment to transparency — noting that Surfshark commissions annual audits and publishes quarterly transparency reports.
Two newer features received particular attention. Everlink — our self-healing VPN connection technology — was described as innovative and one-of-a-kind. And FastTrack, our new speed-optimization feature, was called a potential game changer for certain users.
Recognition that matters
CNET’s review process is rigorous and independent. Earning an 8.6 from them — with near-perfect scores on usability, value, and features — is a reflection of the work we’ve been putting into Surfshark across the board.
It’s rewarding to be recognized among industry professionals, especially with praise as high as this.
“Surfshark is still an excellent VPN that goes above and beyond what many similarly priced or more expensive alternatives can do.”— Attila Tomaschek, CNET expert.
We’re proud of this recognition, and we’re not slowing down. After an innovative 2025, we are excited about even more features and upgrades coming this year.
