This year, we made strides in our product offerings, social responsibility efforts, and global outreach. What’s included?
Technical overview
In 2024, we focused on enhancing the quality of our services to better meet the needs of our users. Our technical team introduced several new features to ensure stronger privacy and security for everyone. We launched Alternative Number, a unique feature designed to protect users’ phone numbers online. Additionally, we expanded our support for Apple TV, enabling seamless privacy protection across more devices.
We also introduced a free Data Leak Checker, allowing users to assess the safety of their personal information at no cost.
Global recognition
Surfshark’s global recognition continues to grow thanks to our creative experiments and campaigns. One standout initiative was the Transparent Loo, a campaign designed to spark conversation around privacy in a unique and eye-catching way. Another unforgettable project was Food for Data, which challenged the public to rethink how we value and protect personal information.
This year, we also hit an exciting milestone: Surfshark Academy surpassed 100k subscribers! This online platform remains dedicated to educating users on the importance of online safety and how to protect their personal data in today’s digital landscape.
Incogni highlights
Incogni, our data removal tool, had a fantastic year. In 2024, we acquired Ironwall to expand our offerings for people who are conscious about data protection. Ironwall offers online privacy protection for public servants and businesses, focusing on judges, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and financial institutions. Additionally, Incogni underwent a rebranding, giving it a fresh new look and aligning it with its mission of protecting digital privacy in a clear, straightforward way.
Research projects & initiatives
Our research team had a productive year, rolling out impactful studies and initiatives aimed at raising awareness about cybersecurity. We launched the Smart Homes Privacy Checker, which allows users to assess the privacy risks associated with their smart home devices.
We also continued to track and report on the state of global internet freedom with the Internet Shutdown Tracker, while our Global Data Breach Statistics report shed light on the increasing number of data breaches worldwide, helping to promote better online safety practices.
Corporate social responsibility
Surfshark’s commitment to social responsibility continued in 2024. We deepened our partnerships with a number of trusted NGOs and nonprofits, such as the Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI) and Open Rights Group (ORG), working together to promote digital rights and internet freedom.
We also launched our first-ever Impact Report showcasing our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts. This included using renewable energy, mapping out carbon emissions, and donating to Ukraine and marine conservation efforts.
Additionally, we continued our Emergency VPN initiative, providing free VPN access to over 300 journalists, NGO workers, and activists facing internet censorship and surveillance.

Surfshark was named a Top Employer in Lithuania, a testament to our dedication to creating a positive, inclusive workplace where every employee can thrive. We continued our “You Donate. We Double” campaign, matching donations to maximize impact and give back to the global community.
