Chief Technology Officer (Incogni)
Incogni is a fast-growing data privacy and automated broker-removal platform on a mission to give people back control of their personal data.
We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer to join our executive product trio and guide our engineering department through its next major phase of growth. This is not a turnaround role — you will be inheriting a highly mature, autonomous, and capable engineering organization.
Your mission is to provide the "connective tissue" across teams, scale our architecture, standardize our delivery processes, and embed compliance by design into everything we do.
What you will do:
Drive the technical North Star: partner with technical leadership to finalize and champion a unified architectural roadmap;
Standardize delivery: establish uniform Project Management and delivery baselines across all teams to ensure predictable execution without suffocating bottom-up agility.
Embed compliance by design: implement strict observability standards across all peripheral infrastructure and build security automations directly into our CI/CD pipelines (AWS/EKS);
Engineer for resilience: own our Disaster Recovery (DRP) and Business Continuity (BCP) strategy — defining and regularly testing RTO/RPO targets — while holding the line on performance-driven quality standards (SLOs, load, and latency) so the platform stays fast and available under real-world stress;
Mentor the management layer: act as a low-ego coach and sounding board for our Engineering Managers, providing the perspective and guidance they need to solve systemic problems autonomously;
Formalize operational excellence: champion a blameless, automated post-mortem culture for production incidents and ensure robust alerting;
Protect innovation: balance top-tier product initiatives with a sustainable, protected budget for technical debt, foundational architecture, and engineering-led innovation;
Collaborate at the executive level: work within a product trio model (Product, Engineering, Business) to align on what we build, while taking ownership of how and when we build it.
What we expect:
Proven scaling experience: you have successfully scaled engineering organizations and guided teams through complex, distributed architecture transitions;
Systems thinking: you possess the architectural chops to see the big picture and challenge technical proposals, combined with the leadership maturity to let your Tech Leads design the details;
Cloud-native & security expertise: you have a deep appreciation for modern infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes) and understand the existential security and compliance burdens of a privacy-first company;
Low-ego leadership: you derive fulfillment from building elite engineering organizations and mentoring managers, not from micromanaging or being the sole architect;
Consensus building: you know how to consolidate a vision from the bottom up and successfully sponsor/sell it to the executive team and board;
Advocacy for autonomy: you respect and know how to maintain a culture where engineers are empowered to own their work and steer product/UX decisions.
What we offer:
Impact: a seat at the executive table shaping the future of a rapidly growing, globally impactful privacy product;
High autonomy: a mature culture that champions bottom-up innovation and trusts engineers to own their workflows;
Professional growth: dedicated budgets for your professional development, conferences, and training;
Top-tier environment: modern hardware, flexible working models, and the standard perks, health, and wellness benefits you expect from a leading tech company.
Here’s the deal:
Growth and learning opportunities: time dedicated to learning, conferences, online learning platforms, and books for your professional development;
Health and wellness: we want you to feel and be your best. That's why we offer various benefits, from online workouts and a physical coach to health insurance and regular mental health checks;
Tools of your choice: choose the technical equipment and tools you need to do your best work;
Community and celebrations: get ready for long-lasting traditions such as yearly workation, Friday get-togethers, various team buildings and company celebrations;
Work-life balance: We encourage working in the office, with the possibility of up to two remote days per week. Plus, with our WFA policy, you can work from almost anywhere in the world;
More days off: additional vacation days depending on your tenure;
Premium Surfshark accounts: for you, your family, and friends;
Gross salary: 9000 - 12000 Eur/month. Although it may vary depending on your skills and experience.
