As we prepare for the year ahead, it’s time to reflect on what we accomplished in 2025 with our Annual Wrap-up! Last year didn’t revolve around one defining moment — it was shaped by steady, continuous progress. We focused on improving the product experience, invested in strengthening our infrastructure, and stayed engaged in conversations around privacy and digital rights as they unfolded.
What’s included in the Annual Wrap-up?
Technical overview
In 2025, we continued to improve the reliability, performance, and usability of our core products. Our technical teams worked on strengthening old features while introducing new ones designed to enhance everyday privacy and security. This year, we launched innovations such as Everlink, a self-healing VPN infrastructure that improves connection stability, and FastTrack, which optimizes VPN routes in real time to deliver better speeds. We also introduced practical features like web content blocker and email scam checker.
Global recognition
Surfshark continued to grow its global visibility through creative campaigns and educational initiatives. We explored new ways to talk about cybersecurity, including a live graffiti stunt in London and Back to School campaigns across universities in four countries. During the year, Surfshark Academy also reached a major milestone, growing to 250,000 subscribers and surpassing 250 million views of its accessible educational online safety and privacy content. Surfshark experts also shared their insights on cybersecurity and privacy with international media outlets, helping explain complex topics and raise awareness about online safety.
Incogni
Incogni continued to develop its data removal services, focusing on expanding coverage and improving support for its users. They also introduced the Incogni Unlimited plan, allowing custom data removal requests beyond standard coverage, and expanded the number of supported data broker sites. Incogni also strengthened trust and transparency by becoming the first data removal service to receive independent verification from Deloitte.
Research projects and initiatives
In 2025, Surfshark’s research team continued examining key topics related to cybersecurity, privacy, and digital life. Throughout the year, the research hub published and updated research on global data breaches, government content removal requests, artificial intelligence, and data practices across popular apps and browsers. By turning complex findings into clear insights, these projects helped inform public discussion and support a better understanding of how new technologies affect everyday online experiences.
Corporate social responsibility
Surfshark continued its corporate social responsibility efforts by supporting digital rights, online freedom, and sustainability initiatives. We worked alongside nonprofits and advocacy organizations and participated in global events focused on privacy and press freedom. We also continued providing free VPN access through the Emergency VPN program for journalists and activists operating in high-risk environments. Alongside these efforts, we also expanded internal initiatives that support environmental awareness, community engagement, and charitable giving.
The people behind Surfshark
In 2025, Surfshark continued investing in its people and workplace culture. The team grew across multiple locations and backgrounds, while new initiatives focused on development, leadership, and wellbeing supported employees at different stages of their careers. These efforts helped strengthen collaboration and create an environment where people can grow alongside the company.
