The USA might have the biggest library, but that library has the joint lowest average IMDb rating (6.95) along with Canada. Azerbaijan, Portugal, Georgia, Ukraine and Russia are tied at the top spot for IMDb audience ratings, all with an average score of 7.13.
Azerbaijan also tops the list for average highest MetaCritic scores (65.3) and it shares that accolade with Ukraine. Azerbaijan‘s catalogue is relatively small with only 2,117 titles, that‘s only one more than Georgia, which has the smallest library.
India‘s library has the highest average IMDb audience rating in the top 10 countries with the most titles. It has 5591 titles and an average score of 7.12. Canada‘s library has the lowest average MetaCritic score, at 61.4. However, they have 5,730 titles which is second only to the US.
The Countries with the Most Award-winning Films and TV Shows
We took all of the TV shows & films available on Netflix in 70 countries, found out which ones have Oscar and Emmy wins, then we put together these maps which show the countries with the most award winning titles.

Parasite became South Korea’s first Best Picture winner at the Oscars this year, and South Korea takes the trophy for "most Academy Award Winners" on Netflix. The country also shares the top number of Emmy-winning shows (35), along with five other Asian territories: Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
You won’t be short of award-bait in Switzerland, either. Swiss Netflix has the second highest number of Oscar-winners: 85, against a towering 109 in South Korea. You will also find the joint second highest number of Emmy-winners in Switzerland (34).
But awards aren’t everything. Moldova hosts the lowest number of Oscar-winners (36) by some margin but maintains a respectable IMDb average of 7.12. Sometimes the real best pictures are those that touch your soul, rather than tugging at your heartstrings.
Which Countries Can Watch the Top TV Shows and Films?
We picked out some of the most popular films and series, according to Empire magazine and The Hollywood Reporter and looked into where they were available around the globe.
These maps show which countries have access to some of the most popular movies and shows on Netflix.

How Does Your Netflix Library Compare to the Rest of the World?
This table shows which countries have the biggest libraries, and can also be sorted to show which countries can boast the highest average IMDb ratings, MetaCritic scores and more. How does your country rank?
Why Is Netflix Different in Each Country?
The movie and television industries invest millions into creating their output, and with so much money at stake, they do their best to earn back as much as possible from their investments. To this end, studios enforce their copyright by country. Different markets have different demands for content, for example, a British sci-fi classic might not be of interest to American audiences, or an American hit movie might have no traction in Ukraine, you get the picture.
Studios charge Netflix more for the streaming rights to specific titles in some countries than others. Netflix may choose to pay the high price to stream a title in a country where they‘re confident that content will be popular, while negotiations for other regions might fail.
Improve your streaming experience
Want to stream with peace of mind that you’re safe from cyber threats? To stay secure and keep your privacy while streaming Netflix, download a VPN. If you’re worried about losing speed - don’t. Surfshark will not limit your bandwidth, and we also have over 3200 fast servers across 65 countries.
Surfshark does not encourage using a VPN in any way that would potentially violate the Terms of Service of streaming service providers.
Methodology
To create these visualizations, we used data from Flixwatch, the largest Netflix database site with films and TV shows for over 70 countries. For each film and TV show we found the IMDb rating and MetaCritic score. We then calculated the average ratings for each country‘s catalogue. Next we researched which titles had Oscar winners and Emmy winners. We then separated the data into countries.
