Why should I use a VPN for Viber?
Protect yourself on free Wi-Fi!
We have a saying that goes something like, “there’s no free cheese outside of a mousetrap.” While it doesn’t map to free Wi-Fi 1:1, there are some dangers you should be aware of! A free Wi-Fi spot could be compromised by unscrupulous employees or outright cloned by hackers trying to steal your data. However, if your data is transferred via an encrypted VPN connection…
Use Viber stealthily
If you’re using Viber somewhere it is banned, you are potentially placing yourself at some risk. After all, your ISP can tell whether you’re connecting to the service or not. But with a VPN on, it can’t! Your data is encrypted and unreadable to anyone who would try to tap your line. Moreover, when you use a VPN, you first connect to the VPN server and only to the service you want to reach. That’s why anyone observing your internet connection will only ever see you access the VPN server and not your Viber connection.
Viber blocks, begone!
Is Viber restricted in your current location? That’s not great, but you have a way to make this situation better. That’s right, use a VPN to access Viber! If the ISP (Internet Service Provider) thinks you’re connecting to the VPN server, not Viber, you can text your friends!

Why is my Viber blocked?
Viber is usually blocked by the government. This is what has happened (or is happening) in countries like China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the UAE. Governments can have many reasons to restrict the free communication between their citizens, and those reasons are rarely justified.
However, VPNs help overcome most, if not all, of the blocks that can be imposed on Viber. It doesn’t even need any special magic to do so. Just join a VPN server in a country that it’s not banned in and access Viber freely.
What makes Surfshark one of the best VPNs for Viber?
More servers than you can vibe a stick at
More servers are always better when it comes to a VPN service. And Surfshark VPN has 4,500 servers for you to choose from. Get better speed by connecting to the one closer to you, or avoid traffic congestion by choosing a different server!
No problem with NoBorders mode
Countries that ban Viber may also be countries that don’t have the most friendly relationships with VPN providers. But with Surfshark’s NoBorder mode, you can safely reach VPN services even in those hostile countries.
Modern protocols
Surfshark users mainly use the WireGuard protocol — a fairly new but widely trusted protocol that ensures speed and security. But if you want, you can switch to IKEv2 or OpenVPN protocols, which are respected in the industry.
Protecting more than your phone
A smartphone is the natural choice for Viber app users. But that doesn’t mean that you’ll need to pay more if you want to extend VPN protection to other devices. With Surfshark as your VPN provider, one account supports unlimited simultaneous connections.
No activity tracking
Your browsing history can be worth a pretty penny online. Advertisers would love to have it. A no-logs VPN promises that it won’t keep any records of your browsing history. And Surfshark is a no-logs VPN with audits to prove it.
One package, many features
Don’t just get Surfshark VPN. Get Surfshark One or Surfshark One+. Enjoy additional benefits like access to Antivirus app to remove malware, Alert to warn you if your data is leaked online, and Alternative ID for all those forms where you’d rather not mention your name.
Surfshark vs. free VPNs
Free VPNs often compromise on privacy and performance. Surfshark VPN offers a more secure browsing experience you can trust.
