    Planting the Unicorn Forest

On May 18, we planted a tree for every Surfshark employee, contributing to a collective effort by over 20 startups. Together, we planted 9,169 trees over an area of 3 hectares. This initiative pushes us towards a more sustainable future and is expected to absorb 1,815 tons of CO₂.

In addition, Surfshark initiated an Earth Day walking challenge. All employees are encouraged to exchange other transport methods, such as cars, for walking this May. Every 200k steps will result in the planting of 1 tree.

    Joining the UN Global Compact

UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, which Surfshark joined at the end of 2023. It calls on companies to align strategies and operations with universal human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption principles and take actions that advance societal goals.

We provide companies with resources, tools, and guidance to help them set ambitious sustainability targets and, accordingly, support them in achieving those through our Accelerator programmes and Peer Learning Groups.

The UN Global Compact aims to enhance and expand businesses’ worldwide collective positive impact. How? By ensuring they contribute to achieving sustainable development goals through responsible practices.

Sustainable development challenges & how can we address them

Right now, only 15% of the Sustainable Development Goals are on track for 2030. Take gender equality, for example. At the current rate, it will take over 169 years to achieve gender equality in terms of women’s economic empowerment and participation!

To change the current path, corporations must establish and pursue bold objectives. Businesses can make quick and significant changes when they work together, especially in areas like Gender Equality, Climate Action, and Human Rights. Companies can move forward faster by setting high goals and putting their strategies into action.

    Surfshark’s SDG focus

As we move forward in our journey toward sustainability, we’re excited to highlight the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that guide our actions and drive our mission:

    Surfshark's ten Sustainable Development Goals.

    Path to a greener tomorrow

Surfshark’s commitment to sustainability is an ongoing mission. From the Unicorn Forest initiative to our UN Global Compact pledge, we’re not just dreaming but actively crafting a greener future.
