If you want to:
Design, architect, and implement high-performance backend systems to detect and prevent web service abuse, automated bot traffic, and malicious activity across Surfshark services.
Build, deploy, and maintain robust Layer 7 rule engines, rate-limiting systems, and edge-layer defenses (WAF/CDN) to mitigate large-scale application attacks.
Drive architectural decisions for backend services and data pipelines that integrate real-time web telemetry for automated threat mitigation.
Collaborate with cross-functional security and platform teams to model emerging application threat vectors and engineer scalable defenses.
Ensure the long-term reliability, low latency, security, and cost efficiency of the backend infrastructure supporting anti-abuse efforts.
And you can check off:
Experience in Python, including building and optimizing scalable microservices and data processing frameworks;
Proven capability to take end-to-end ownership of complex systems, driving features from initial concept and design diagrams through to deployment and maintenance;
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and web protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, REST) for troubleshooting application-level security issues;
Experience designing data collection pipelines and working efficiently with large database systems and data processing tools;
A strong commitment to engineering excellence: writing clean, well-tested code, managing technical debt, and mentoring others through rigorous code reviews;
An analytical, threat-hunting mindset with the ability to research evolving attack vectors and proactively propose systemic improvements.
Bonus points if you:
Have knowledge about OWASP Web/API risks, bot prevention techniques, credential stuffing countermeasures;
